How to Style: Fall Hues of Navy & Tan
featuring styles with our favorite denim and shoe brands
Fall is quietly approaching. It's still a little early, but before long the temperature will (hopefully) drop from to cool us from the sweltering temperatures, the leaves changing to their signature rich hues, and so must our wardrobe begin to transition to reflect the season. Since it's still to warm for actual fall wear, you can begin to introduce some more transitional tones to your palette. Navy and tan are two classic colors that can easily be worn any time of year. See how we styled these shades below for outfit ideas you'll love.
A good tip for a transitioning wardrobe is to take prints that are still current and mix them with some elements of the forthcoming season. Florals, which are typically associated with spring and summer, can easily work in the cooler months. Take this crop top from Altuzarra, for example. We loved the classic-esque feel of the shirt, and more so the fact that it beautifully blends baby blue a spectrum of the deeper shades. Paige's high waisted, wide-leg jean is the perfect balance of chic with just the right amount of edge. It's fitting silhouette and solo-cut compliment the casual sophistication of the top. These Alexandre Birman sandals feature dazzling textiles on soft suede. The elegance of the shoe brings the entire look to a more luxe level and introduces the supporting color: tan. Our Faux Coco Weekender is the statement making accessory that unifies all of these pieces, along with our Rawhide Pampa Belt. The shoes then become the perfect accent for the richness of the bag, and the belt brings together all the subtle tones from its natural patina.
The meaning of “life imitates art” takes new form with this poised and playful look. The magic of this aesthetic comes from the beauty of Essentiel Antwerp’s paint splatter skirt. The Belgian brand is known for its unique use of bold splashes of color and creative prints. Grab your favorite white tee, like Tanya Taylor’s side ruching t-shirt. You want a shirt that falls just at the waist where the top of the skirt is. Our favorite summer tote, the Sophie Woven Bag and the Zip Clutch Wallet, are the dynamic duo to make this style even more spectacular. The richness of the navy wallet pairs beautifully with the blue brush strokes. Pump in these Tamara Mellon heels and off you go!
It’s true that Azaleas are a spring bloom, but that doesn’t mean you can’t admire their beauty all year long. For instance, Kimberly Goldson’s Gabi Floral Print Dress masterfully mixes the flower in warm and cool tones for a palette that works in any season. The white base for the dress makes it a chic wear whether you’re jaunting through the day or prepping for a special outing. For this look, we opted for a slightly casual shoe from Birdies. The camel color of the sandal mirrors the rich golds and browns in the petals. Take your favorite neutral bag, like The Camille, and you’re all set! If you need something smaller, our Zip Clutch Wallet is the way to go.
