LEATHER CARE GUIDE

Durability is at the heart of our designs, and we’re here to ensure your

favorites stay beautiful and functional through every stage of their life.

ABOUT OUR LEATHER

PRODUCTION
We produce our leather goods in our California studio, in Italy and Argentina.

MATERIALS
Our bags and small accessories are made of the finest Italian leather made from end-of-life dairy cattle. We work exclusively with a tannery that meets strict animal care standards to ensure that the leather we use can be traced back to its origin. This allows us to ensure that our standards for animal welfare, carbon footprint, and social and environmental responsibility are upheld. This leather is tanned with vegetable tannins using no chemicals or heavy metals, only bark and berry compounds.

Our traditional Argentine belts are made in the provinces of Argentina. We use vegetable tanned leather as well as rawhide for our polo belts. Understand that rawhide is an untanned leather and comes in a raw, natural state. Each piece is very unique and rugged. The raw look of rawhide is a traditional style in Argentina and common in the sport of polo. We love its unique look in each piece - not one belt is the same.

NATURAL GRAINS & MARKS
As we don’t plastic coat our leather and source only from pasture raised animals, understand there are natural grain marks and sometimes flaws that may be present on your leather goods. These marks are also unique to each piece and part of the story of the animal life and your finished good.

LEATHER & SUEDE CARE

LEATHER CARE
When not using your leather product, it is recommended to store them in their garment bag, out of sunlight and away from heat or dampness to keep your product in good condition. Leaving your leather goods in direct sunlight will cause fading and drying. Damp environments will cause mildew. Water and rain can stain the leather, in particular our accessories with smooth finishes. If the bag or wallet gets wet, ensure to pat dry, do not rub. Leave in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to dry naturally.

Leather conditioners can be used to keep your leather refreshed but be sure to test in a small spot such as the bag bottom as this will also change the color of your bag. Generally, leather conditioners will result in a deeper color that we love. Condition twice a year or three or four times a year if your leather is frequently exposed to the sun.

SUEDE CARE
Suede is a treatment applied to the skin to produce a napped finish (a raised or soft surface). Suede is beautiful but very delicate. We recommend using a soft suede brush to clean bags. We also suggest not wearing dark color clothing such as dark denim with light color suede as the rubbing motion could stain the bag surface. Our recommendations with any light color leather bag or accessory such as white, beige, cream etc. should not to be worn with darker clothing as this could stain the leather. When wearing any leather accessory diligence is important.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee our leather goods will last for decades if not for a lifetime or more. How heavy you use your piece and the care you take will determine its span of life. We are here for you if you should need repairs, can do full conditioning and minor repairs at no cost and can complete full restoration for a small fee depending on needs.

We hope you love and cherish your new, Stick & Ball leather goods!
